Elect. and Mech.teams just before kick off
FIRED up Group A took another massive turn as Elect. elect. defeated Mechanical Engineering 5-2 at Estadio Ibogun on Saturday Morning.

The opening ten minutes saw mechanical engineering at their worst and it looked like a hammering was on the cards. Mechanical goalie was forced into a very good save early on, having to tip a good effort over the bar, but the mech players didn’t learn from this warning.

Ore headed in the left corner from 20 yards freekick to score his goal for elect within 15 minute, The second was a good simple tapping finish from demola in the 29th minute after a solo effort run and volley from miguel with the goalie saving the first shot and demola was in acres of space with the Mech backline just staring at each other. After this, mechanical engineering began to grow into the game and carved open some opportunities. It would be a good bit of fortune that saw the Mech players get back into the game.

A freekick was awarded outside the Elect penalty box and George fizzed the ball in. Two Elect defenders attempted to head the ball clear, only for the ball to flick off each of their heads and lob their own goalkeeper.
Mechanical engineering were now the better side and started playing some good slick football. Success and Toyin began to come into the game more and had a number of opportunities, but couldn’t take them.

But where given a shock when Muhiz scored a brillant freekick to extend elect lead in the 44th minute.

Halftime: Elect Engr 3-1 Mech Engr.

The second half carried on where the first had left off, with Mech playing the better football in search of their second. As Stephen came on for Tunde, More chances were created, but couldn’t be taken until ismail opped up to nod the ball home but was brought down by Francis, Elect’s RB and the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty. Success stepped up to take the penalty which he finished very calmly making it 3-2 and piling the pressure on the Elect team.

Mechanical Engineering were playing the better football but were hit with a sucker punch with about fifteen minutes to go, when Elect’s zola headed in a bola’s cross in the 77th minute to extend their lead again with a two goal margin.

Mechanical Engineering then readied some more substitutions but before they could get on, it was 5-2 as again some poor defensive work paved the way for Elect’s Bola to grab their fifth from the penalty spot.
With Elect. grabbing three points against Mech, they have secured a four point gap between themselves and third place Mech and hoping for a F.A.A. victory against U.R.P. to progress to the semis.
